corn dogs, kokomo & shenanigans

You know those weekends when you have all these intentions and then some of them fall through and you're still pooped from everything you did do? That.

Friday I worked from head office. It was really nice seeing all the girls! After work, Jocelyn and I headed to the PNE. All week I've been super pumped to have a corn dog. I probably get one once a year (when I go to the PNE) so all year the anticipation of it builds up. Just yum.

We went to the "Petting Zoo" which isn't really a petting zoo anymore. You use to be able to walk in and touch the goats and sheep, now they're just kind of each in a designated area and you can put your fingers through the fencing. All the animals were super adorable, and we both made the same squealing sounds when we saw the piglets (ohmygawwh!)

We saw the Peking Acrobats and they were pretty unreal. They all look super young, were incredibly bendy and are probably really good at Kama Sutra like positions. The Acrobats ended roughly 10 minutes before The Beach Boys started. It ended up being completely full so we just kind of stood around and listened for a bit. For whatever reason, they have fencing AND mesh up. You can't even see the performer, it's a pretty awful set up. We decided to go on the roller coaster instead. It's been about a thousand years since I've been on the roller coaster (even though it's one of my favourite rides) and I didn't realize you couldn't bring a purse on! I was having a panic attack about leaving my iphone in my bag, so we both decided to tuck our phones in our bras. Since it HAS been a thousand years since I've been on that ride, I completely forgot how jerky it is. My skirt flew up and I was SO worried about my phone flying out of my tits that I couldn't even really enjoy the ride. Joss was screaming bloody murder the entire time, it was pretty hilarious. The good news was our purses weren't stolen and our iphones survived. The bad news is our picture was so embarrassingly awful.

We started heading back to listen to The Beach Boys and saw they had a screen set up at the beer garden. A few songs in, they started playing Kokomo. Kokomo is one of my favourite songs of all time period. It's quintessential summer and just makes me feel really, really good. Hearing the play that song is probably one of my favourite moments of all summer (and was the first thing I put in my 'Good Things' jar in a while. I have a 'Good Things' ziplock bag full of Italy memories, but I don't know if I should combine the two.)

It started raining just The Beach Boys finished. I called it an early night as I had to go to work with my dad the next morning.

Saturday I worked and then headed to Kira's birthday. I ended up drinking prior to me getting there, and then kind of went hard (if that's possible on ciders) when I got there. I've come to the conclusion that ciders are probably the worst thing to get drunk on. By the time I left, I had a splitting headache and I've been nursing a hangover all day.

Etc.
  • Toad is one of the cutest cats ever. EVER.
  • All of my single girlfriends have so many hilarious dating shenanigans stories. I'm tempted to start going out with ridiculous guys just so I can blog about it.
  • Eggs benny doesn't cure hangovers. It makes them worse.
  • Trying to explain how random Scott Pilgrim is to someone that has never heard of it doesn't work. Making them watch it does.
  • I didn't miss a lot of things or people while I was away for a month, but seeing Randy after not seeing him for over a month was really, really nice.
  • I ended up getting a spiral notebook to start jotting down thoughts/worries/assumptions/ideas/dreams/whathaveyou. My head is full of them. Maybe that's why I have such a bad headache?
  • Is it next weekend yet?
