When I was away in Italy, all I kept seeing on my Twitter time line was "watch Orange is the New Black." I asked a few of my friends what it was about, and it sounded like something I would like. I didn't really have any time to sink my teeth into it until this past Friday evening. Once I committed an hour to the first episode, I was hooked. I ended up staying up past my bedtime on friday (12:30! I'm so old, I know). Woke up early on Saturday, and watched the last two episodes this morning. I'll tell you this, the first season ended with a bang.
Orange is the New Black is a Netflix original. Not only is it a Netflix original, it's completely original period. I will compare it to Girl Interrupted with many more laughs and lesbian moments. It's watchable for both men and woman (though, I'm sure guys watch it for the full on nudity.) Basically, it's about a woman who voluntarily gives herself up for a crime she committed ten years prior. The first episode is her going to prison, and you don't really find out why exactly she's in there until later on.
Each character is full of personality. The whole season is entirely quotable, and you will quickly fall in love with cast. I'm kind of bummed I watched the season over a weekend, now I will need to find another show equally as good, but I think it will be a tough act to follow.
Anyways, just watch it. Crazy eyes told you so.
