fleet of black limousines; nerdy girl

Last night was The Lumineers! I did the math and I have seen them THREE times in NINE months. Fan much? They never fail to amaze me. Highlight of the concert was them coming out into the middle of the crowd to play two songs. I wish I was closer. I had a hay day clapping and stomping and dancing. We were kind of in the back, and Mallory and I seemed to be the only ones participating in singing songs other than Ho Hey and Stubborn Love (c'mon peeps!) They played my favourite song as their final song of the encore - Big Parade. I love the song for the Call and Response, but was disappointed Wes sped through that entire middle part. It was a beautiful, crisp evening. The moon was glowing this amazing glow and gave a lovely 'luminescence' to the night.

I've yet again packed my weekend. Tonight I have a date with History (I've decided I'm going to make up names for guys I'm going to be dating. This guy is getting the name History because duh, we have history.) He is absolutely awful at texting back in a prompt manner, but then again he's a construction worker so I imagine he's too busy being dirty and lifting shit to have is iPhone out. So I'm not completely certain what our plan is, what time we're meeting and whether or not it's going to be a late night. I'm fully prepared to bail last minute again just so I can finish season one of Breaking Bad (I'm hooked!)

Tomorrow I'm going to catch up on laundry/chores/adult stuff, and then I'm heading to Christy's for a delayed Shark Week watching marathon. I haven't seen Christy in what feels like a thousand years! I finally get to see her new place (she lives in Mt. Pleasant, which is my second choice to live after The Drive.)

Sunday I have a date with JB (J being the first letter of his first name, B is for banana, which I may explain at a later date.) We're going for brunch and then to the aquarium, and later if we have time, the art gallery (all his ideas!). He also asked me to make him a mixed CD (this guy is doing it all right.) He just got out of an 8 year relationship, and with my 7 year relationship just ending (who are we kidding, I might as well put G and D together because there was only one day where I was single between the two relationships) we are in the same boat. We have both been talking about our exes and it sounds like we both went through a lot of the same crap. It's nice to speak to someone of the opposite sex who is going through the same thing I went through, and is having the same feelings I'm having post break-up. He admitted he's so conditioned to being with someone, he felt like he should start casually dating right away. We have been texting pretty much non-stop for the past 48 hours and he said that he was really glad we met and that before me he didn't know nerdy girls existed. That got me thinking, am I actually a nerdy girl? I never really considered myself one, but comparing myself to generic (yoga pants, uggs, oh my god!) girls, I suppose I am. I still like feminine things, but I also like Lego, video games, craft beer and graphic tees. And you know what, I'm perfectly okay with that.

I'm feeling pretty good in the direction life is heading. All of my friendships are good and so is my family life (except for my crazy Zia and the fact I'm still waiting for an apology from my dad). Work is good, but incredibly busy. I have a few short term goals I'd like to accomplish. Can you believe it's already September 20th? In two days it's Autumn.

PS the new Arcade Fire song is un-fucking-real.
