Today was a very busy day at work. I also just found out I'll be assisting on two more properties (granted, they're small but I may also be getting trained on rentals as well). So, the work day flew by relatively quickly which was a nice change as the entire summer has been molasses slow. I also feel since it's getting busier, I'm having to deal with crappy owners more on the regular. My standard conversations with people go as follows: "why did you take more money than my normal amount out of my account?" "That's a catchup fee, it's a one time fee that is added to your monthly strata fee that is approved at the Annual General Meeting" "Do I always have to pay this much? Are you sure you didn't make a mistake". "Did you read your minutes?" "...no." Sigh.
I met up with my grandma after work and headed to the Surrey Art Gallery. The main exhibit was a bunch of art created by everyday people and displayed. I felt really inspired looking at the different mediums and then had this big wave of sadness. Painting, and creating use to be my life. I would spend hours every day working on my visual journal, or painting things for family or friends. I can't tell you the last time I picked up a paintbrush. After my meltdown conversation with Sabine this morning, and her great advice (do what makes you happy, and do new things that make you even happier) painting is something I want to start doing again. It makes me extremely happy and it's a great way to funnel out bad energy.
After we explored the exhibit, I started looking through the Fall and Leisure Guide. I was trying to find an Italian Class (I think I might just break down and buy Rosetta Stone) when I found a Beginner's Pottery. I took a pottery class when I was 11 or 12 and absolutely hated it. I think now that I'm older, I may enjoy it. I actually really dig clay as a medium, and when I use to volunteer at the Art Gallery, I was generally put in the clay station. I asked my grandma if it would be something she'd be interested in, and she said sure. The classes start mid September and are every Tuesday, so it works out perfectly!
We went to Boston Pizza for dinner. Have I mentioned how much I hate Boston Pizza? It's basically one of my least favourite places to eat. She likes it for their pasta Tuesday deal, and I'm pretty pasta'd out. I had an incredibly mediocre salad, and am proud to say I didn't eat the garlic bread (nor did I eat a single bread stick at the Olive Garden yesterday! Self five!)
Kyle picked me up a little before 8:00, and we started walking at 8:13 (to be exactly exact). Including me having to go pee after the third lap, we ended up walking 16 laps (in an hour and 15 minutes), which works out to be roughly 7k (Kyle is always lane 6, I'm always lane 7.) I thoroughly enjoy getting to spend time with him again, and getting exercise to boot. Monday our plan is to do a walk/run switch, and Tuesday we will be working in lunges. Here's hoping in the next few months, I'll be able to run the 5k...in the meantime, sucks to my athsmar.
Oh, we saw bats while we were walking today. They were so freaking cute. That is all.
